"Lovely 2 night stay at the Lion Hotel, regularly visit Shrewsbury and thought of staying here for a change , we were pleasantly surprised, after reading some of the reviews, so please do not discard this hotel because of some negative reviews, you need to stay here to find out for yourself. "On arrival, easy to park. Went into the front bar area to check in. Greeted and checked in asked if we wanted breakfast we asked for prices and told various options available, but not forthcoming with options. ( A menu would of been helpful). Directed to the accommodation which was back outside, next door. The main front door was opened by key , but only realised later that the same key opened room door, so potentially all accommodation can be opened by same key. We had booked room with river...

"Lovely period hotel with mostly period furniture. Very welcoming and helpful staff. I was staying on my own but there was such a good friendly atmosphere I didn’t feel “on my own”. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas."

"Excellent cooked breakfast. Nice quiet location. They do have band on at the weekend but not a problem on the second floor. Very helpful staff. No parking nearby but that's the same for type accommodation the town centre."

"We arrived at 6pm and waited 10 minutes to check in. The room we reserved was unavailable. We drove for 20 minutes on single track to arrived from Shrewsbury. The breakfast was none existent. The room was clean and tidy but the lighting was terrible. I think 6.0 rate is suitable."
