Founded as Harmony Grove in 1884, the city made a name for itself as a cotton textile producer. Stroll down Elm Street in Commerce’s historic downtown, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Browse interesting shops and restaurants and admire red brick buildings dating back to the 19th and 20th centuries.
Commerce is one of the most popular shopping destinations in Jackson County. Find great deals at Tanger Outlets which features the factory stores of brands such as Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, J.Crew and Kay Jewelers.

Have a picnic in Willoughby Park and take advantage of the downtown area’s proximity to pretty Spencer Park. In the summer, take the kids to the wading pool found at Veterans Memorial Park.
Commerce is located at the northern end of Heritage Highway 441, which bisects the state. Drive south along this scenic route to see some of the most beautiful parts of Georgia. Atlanta is 70 miles (113 kilometers) away.
