"We were really disappointed on arrival as the hotel was covered in scaffolding and the entrance looked much more like a 1970s multi-storey carpark than a 4* hotel. The stairs (the lift was out of order), reception area and room were very dated. The soundproofing in the bathroom was non-existent (my wife could hear everything next door). Having said that the beds were comfortable, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was ok."

"Our Christmas stay at the Welcombe Hotel was a nice break. The mansion is stunning, set in 157 acres of beautiful grounds, and if you’re lucky, you might even spot deer roaming around. The spa was good to have—the indoor pool, Swedish sauna, and outdoor vitality pool made for a nice way to unwind, and the thermal rooms were a nice touch. "This hotel is a great location to walk into town. The hotel the has been upgraded throughout with a lovely outside seating area, however the swimming pool etc is in need of an upgrade to go in line with the modern decor of the hotel. "

"Had a great time celebrating a family gathering. Food was great, staff were helpful and friendly and facilities were good. Loved the games room which kept everyone amused. Hotel is starting to date in parts and could potentially have a freshen up. Corridors were chilly and frayed stair carpets. Overall a great stay and would recommend it. "
