Fantastic Japanese style hotel. Service excellent. Hotel cose walking distance to attractions. Dinner and breakfast was a delight. Hotel on old side but all the other highlights compensate.

Good spot for everything in Nara
The hotel is perfectly located in Nara, close to everything (shopping streets, park, restaurants and sites to visit). Rooms are spacious, traditional like in a ryokan. It's more of a hotel than a real, traditional ryokan though, so keep in mind if you're looking for a ryokan immersive experience instead.
Meals were very good, and we had a pleasant stay in Nara
Nara Hakushikaso is located really close to the Kintetsu Nara station so it was easy getting to it. it's also within walking distance of the major Nara attractions. There's even a shopping street nearby. The food that came included with the stay was delicious and definitely felt worth the value of the stay. While it was fairly clean, it definitely wasn't as clean as some of my other stays in Japan. My only con for it is that the service as ryokan wasn't as great some of the other ryokans that I stayed at; however, it was also significantly cheaper too. One of my favorite things about the stay was the bath infused with silver ions and bathing in a tub carved out of a 1000 year old tree.
The location was very convenient to the big park and nearby shopping area. The room was large. Plenty of space for the three of us (parents and daughter) to spread out futons for sleeping. The futons were more comfortable for sleeping than I expected. We got half board, and there was a lot of food for dinner. There is a public bath, which our daughter used. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place is a a little on the old side, but very comfortable and clean. Also, our room had a shower/tub and two toilets.

A nightmare to us
This hotel was hard for me to locate even through GPS as I drove from Kyoto, but the worst was my room, so noisy, it was because all the dishes, bowls and kitchen wares were cleaning just next to my room after dinner from Restaurant.... Can you imagine????
Great location - 5 min max by foot from station and 15min from park, a lot of places around to eat.
Compared to other hotels in Japan - this wasn't that clean. Also in-room stuff (like tables etc) was dated.
For dinner and breakfast - it would be nice to have some "instructions" included as it hard to get what it is and what is for :) but staff tries its best to explain with little english knowledge.
WiFi was weak and dropping often.
Great experience with traditional ryokan. Very kind and polite staff speak good English. The food is great. Service is fatastic.
It is very close to Nara Park (where famous Dodai-ji and Dear Park are).
Best of all, there is modern private bathroom as well as traditional hot bath.
Will definitely stay here again.
An amazing place, where you're welcomed and treated as family. The property might seem dated but to us it was part of the charm, with an immense, Japanese-style room. The breakfast was excellent, and the location at the the heart of Nara speaks for itself.

Nice location, but hotel is old.
Hotel location is close to Nara kintetsu station, and can walk to restaurants and tourist attractions. However, the onsen and the dinner were the main attractions I picked this hotel. The onsen was fine, but the amenities were very minimal. The hair dryers in the lady onsen didn't work. The dinner was just ok. The room was spacious. The bathroom had a bad smell, and we had to shower in the onsen bathroom.
My best experience is the lady who prepared our dinners and made our beds were very friendly. I will probably pick another hotel next time with nicer onsen and dinner.
This was our first ryokan experience in Japan. The staff were very nice even though their English was limited. The room condition showed its age but was very clean and comfortable. We got the half board and the meals were all excellent. We stayed for two nights and they served different dinner dishes each night. I also needed help to print our boarding passes and the hostess was very eager to help. Overall their service was thoughtful and attentive, and really made our trip to Nara a memorable experience.
Hotel was very helpful on arrival, and accomodating with luggage. Room was in very nice condition and large (I reserved a 6-person room for one of me). Location was the best feature, as Nara park is a couple short blocks away, as well as several businesses and restaurants.
I wanted to find a shop for bicycle rental. They drew me a map precisely and showed me the way clearly. Excellent services. They always smile and greetings to u.

Nice hotel close to Nara park
Nice good friendly staff. All are out of my expectation. Will stay again next time.
This hotel was a great way to experience staying at a ryokan. We had a standard room which was spacious enough for two people. The service was excellent. I highly recommend getting the half which is dinner and breakfast included. For dinner the food is delivered to your room. You also get poured green tea and helped into your yukata before the actual dinner for relaxation. The dinner itself is traditional Japanese kakasei. And can choose Japanese or western style for breakfast. The Japanese style was very good! Location is close to the nara kinketsu train station and within few blocks of the major sites to see in Nara. Would stay at the place again!
