Scarborough Village Travel Guide

Toronto
Scarborough Village which includes street scenes and signage as well as a small group of people
Spend a morning near the water. Then head to shopping malls or pristine golf courses in this lively village.

Shop at department stores and malls in Scarborough Village. Enjoy the afternoon sun on a range of gorgeous fairways or dip your feet into the glassy waters of Lake Ontario.

Scarborough Village has several shopping options to serve this pleasant residential community. Wander along Eglinton Avenue and stop off at a number of shops including Home Depot and Dairy Queen.

If you want to peruse a wider selection of brands and fashion boutiques head to Cedarbrae Mall at the northern end of town. Among more than 70 stores here are favourites such as Jewellery City, Perfume Hut, the Source, Boardwalk Shoes and Walmart. Discover the latest phones, laptops and televisions or purchase leather shoes and accessories. When wintry weather arrives, the mall is a great spot to get some indoor exercise as a mall walker.

Choose from the local and international dishes offered at the mall food court and then head off to experience some of Scarborough’s glorious natural spaces. The town borders the northwestern shore of Lake Ontario, with a walking path offering sprawling views. Test the water temperature with your toe and take a swim. Loop back toward town through Guild Park and Gardens.

Check the schedule for the Scarborough Village Theatre, which hosts three award-winning theatre groups. See a local baseball game under the lights at Scarborough Village Park.

Don’t miss the brilliant Scarborough Golf Club, rated as one of the best professional standard courses in the country. Test yourself on 18 holes that have each been intricately designed to challenge every level of player, all in stunning woodland surroundings. For a different type of sport, try curling on the club’s ice rink.

The village has grown from its early roots in 1836 when it had little more than a brick schoolhouse, blacksmith shop and general store. In contrast to today’s modern appearance, see some of the village’s early dwellings, the 1875 Washington Manse and 1850 Fred S. Cornell House.

Scarborough Village is about a 40-minute drive northeast of central Toronto. Find numerous hotels in the heart of town, with more options for accommodation in Toronto itself.
