From great surf to gorgeous views it’s no wonder this is one of the best-loved oceanfront spots on New South Wales’ Central Coast.

Terrigal Beach is a gorgeous stretch of sand attached to the relaxed town of Terrigal, itself sometimes known as Terrigal Beach. That might sound confusing, but all you really need to know is that this beach is famed for its great surfing opportunities, stress-free atmosphere and access to a wide range of watersports. Come to Terrigal Beach and see for yourself why this is such a beloved place for locals, as well as a big lure for tourists from farther afield.

Explore the pretty, peaceful little inlet that is Terrigal Beach and expect to meet quite a few surfers along the way. Many novice surfers are drawn to this stretch of coast to improve their skills or even to take to the waves for the first time. Terrigal Beach is known for having wonderfully safe surfing conditions. Wander the array of surf stores and schools scattered throughout the town, testament to the high demand for this thrilling sport.

The shore also offers a god mix of characterful cafés and bars. Take a break from the sun and enjoy some shade and a cold drink at one of these easygoing establishments. Or, order some takeout fish and chips to eat near the beach.

Follow the boardwalk to Terrigal Lagoon for some paddleboarding. This calm activity offers a change of pace from surfing. Alternately, ditch the equipment and just go for a swim in the lagoon’s tranquil waters.

Wamberal Beach, next to the lagoon, is another lovely spot to set up for the day. Come here to surf some bigger waves than those at Terrigal Beach. Or, head back along the boardwalk to end up in Terrigal Haven, another thrilling surf spot that is also home to a picturesque harbor, pretty fishing boats, and a good range of snorkeling and diving facilities.

Drive from Sydney and get to Terrigal Beach in around 90 minutes. Don’t forget to bring the only three things you need to have an amazing time at this gorgeous spot: sunscreen, a swimsuit and a seriously laid-back attitude.
