Talamanca Beach (Playa de Talamanca) is the closest beach to the center of Ibiza Town. The beach boasts gorgeous turquoise waters and pristine white sand framed by a blend of urban and natural landscapes. Talamanca Beach welcomes a varied mix of visitors, from locals that come for a post-work swim to vacationing families and snoozing partygoers. Kick back following a day of sightseeing, dabble in water sports and recharge the batteries prior to dancing the night away at Ibiza’s famous clubs.
The beach curves around the bay for about 0.6 miles (1 kilometer), so there’s plenty of sunbathing room even in summertime. There are sun umbrellas and loungers to rent or you can look for an empty space on which to lay down a towel. Mornings are peaceful here and a great time to take a quiet walk and go jogging. Stroll along the seashore or the boardwalk to the Sa Punta headland.
Active beachgoers can have fun trying water sports such as flyboarding, paddleboarding and scuba diving. Rent Jet Skis and kayaks and travel at thrilling speeds on a water sled ride. Rejuvenate the body and wash away the previous night’s excess by plunging into the glistening sea. The bay is shallow and calm and lifeguards are on duty.
When hunger strikes, simply walk to the rear of the beach, where bars and restaurants line the boardwalk. Grab a seat on a terrace, order a cold drink and admire the views while accompanied by the sounds of melodic Balearic beats. Alternatively, purchase food and drink from the nearby supermarket and set up a beach picnic.
Talamanca Beach is about 1.9 miles (3 kilometers) from the center of Ibiza Town. Ferries arrive at Ibiza Port from the neighboring Balearic Islands of Formentera and Mallorca plus mainland Spanish cities such as Barcelona and Valencia. You’ll find many hotels within comfortable walking distance from the beach. From the town of San Antonio it’s a 30-minute drive.
