SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium

The Sea Life Aquarium is a relatively new amenity to Kansas City having just opened to the public in 2012. With over 5,000 sea creatures, a touch pool and an underwater viewing tunnel, it is easy to see why it is steadily becoming one of the top tourist attractions in Kansas City.

Marvel at the huge variety of sea life, from seahorses and jellyfish, to the larger octopi, rays and reef sharks. Covering over 2,600 square metres the Sea Life Aquarium exhibits a range of varying oceanic habitats. Check out the piranhas of South America in the freshwater tanks – a real favourite here!

Children love the touch pool where they can interact with crabs, starfish and rays. Should you have any queries about any of the sea creatures, you’ll find staff with extensive knowledge of the aquarium and its inhabitants nearby.

Over at the ocean pool, tropical fish coexist peacefully with larger fish such as sharks and rays. Observe their behaviour and graceful movements as you walk underneath their tank. There is an incredible array of seahorse species at the Sea Life, which is due to the aquarium having one of the most successful seahorse breeding programmes in the country.

The Sea Life Aquarium is a great way to spend a few fun-filled hours with the whole family. Information points throughout the centre will teach you about the different sea creatures as you observe them in the various tanks, while fun facts keep the kids entertained. Tickets bought online get a discount so it is advised to pre-book so as to avoid queues and disappointment.

Sea Life Aquarium is situated in the Crown Centre in Kansas City. Lots of public transport options service Union Station and Main Street. If you're travelling by car there is parking available in the Crown Centre and you can validate your ticket in Sea Life Aquarium at the admissions desk. Opened every day with late closing on Fridays and Saturdays.
