The hotel is nice enough, and good value for money given the area. Not in Tunbridge Wells (centre is about a 10-15 minute drive away) but close enough to be convenient. The decor (particualrly the carpets) are outdated, and my room had a slight sewage smell at times. But it was a good place to stay for working purposes.

After a few bathroom teething problems initially which were sorted very quickly, we were generally impressed. The cleanliness of our room was immaculate (Room 123) on a daily basis. Thank you Viv. Staff were friendly, and special mention has to be made of Amanda and Theresa and the breakfast staff. A highly organised efficient team. A slight drawback was having to work around a coach party for meal timings and, possibly, the young lass behind the bar needed an extra pair of hands to help her in the busy period prior to dinner.

Hotel is a little dated and tired looking and the corridors smell musty. The price isn't too bad for what you get. Room was ok but unfortunately we were on the ground floor which faced onto the courtyard, there was a wedding on that night and the guests use the courtyard until 10pm and the function room is opposite so my bedroom was a bit noisy. The bed was fairly comfortable, shower was hot and the bathroom clean. The carpark is a good size but if there is a function on it's much harder to find a space. A good location to drive into Maidstone and surrounding areas. I'd like to give a special mention to Tom who checked us in and the next day he remembered to ask how our first night was and due to the noise from the wedding he gave us 2 free drinks from the bar and complementary breakfast the next day. Tom went above and beyond to make sure we felt valued and looked after, thank you Tom.

Person touched the loaf of bread with bare hands, should of left it in the selophane bag. Another, brought cups, then glasses out carried with fingers inside. The reception staff were not very helpful with problems at this hotel. I was woken up on the first night at 12:30 by two employees trying to enter a room with a claw hammer and wood chisel. They were hammering the door for around 10-15 minutes before i went out to explain that what they were doing would not gain entry. They then proceeded to hammer the door for a few more minutes before another visitor went out and told them the same thing. When i mentioned this to reception later that day she laughed and said hopefully that wont happen again tonight.

Firstly, the thing that stood out about the hotel was the friendly and helpful staff - a particular mention for Ben on reception, who was a credit to the hotel. The rooms we booked were spacious and comfortable, but starting to look a little tired. There were a few little niggly things that would be easy to fix (eg a light switch didn't work, the TV remote had no back on the battery compartment and only worked intermittently) that didn't spoil our stay but pointed to the hotel needing a bit of extra time needed to sort out the little things.
