Sample a selection of craft beers with such names as Combat Wombat and Batsquatch when you visit Rogue Distillery and Public House for a meal or drinks. This pub and restaurant in Portland’s Pearl District is owned by Rogue Ales, an Oregon craft brewery, and was the original location of the company's distillery.
As you take your seat or stand by the bar, look up at the open mezzanine, which has an old piece of distilling equipment, a 50-gallon (190-liter) copper pot still. Rogue hasn’t brewed here since 2008 when it moved its distillery to Newport, Oregon.
Choose from a varied drinks menu that includes more than 30 beers and several different types of ciders, sodas, cocktails and wines. Apart from an occasional guest cider and the wines, the company makes every drink on tap, including the sodas and some of the ciders.
Above the bar is a large board listing the names of the available beers, wines and ciders and their alcohol percentage.
If you are a sports fan, see if games with any of your favorite teams are playing on the five televisions.
When you’re feeling hungry, go to the dining space, which features open and booth seating. Menu items include burgers, pizzas, salads, soups and shared plates. There are also options for vegetarians, vegans and people with gluten sensitivity.
Time your visit to take advantage of Rogue Nation Night, held on the third Wednesday of every month. Try complimentary beer samples and participate in pub games and tournaments to win prizes during this popular event.
Rogue Distillery and Public House is open daily, from late morning until late at night. It is located in the Pearl District, a few minutes northwest of downtown Portland. Come by public transportation or drive and pay to park on the street or in nearby parking garages.
