Stroll along the banks of the river that divides these beach sections, swim among colorful fish and encounter an enormous cashew tree.

Pirangi Beach is a picturesque white sandy haven known for its natural tide pools and the world’s largest cashew tree. Its scenic namesake river splits the beach into the sections of Pirangi do Norte and Pirangi do Sul to the south.

Swim in the placid water of the ocean to cool down after sunbathing under the hot sun. Rent a deck chair and purchase snacks and refreshments from one of the huts. Walk along the wooden planks of the pier that extends over the water on the northern beach. The back of the bay is flanked by swaying palm trees, intriguing rock formations and apartments with panoramic views of the ocean.

Practice surfing with friends, watch kite surfers and try other watersports. Diving and snorkeling are popular in the aquatic region, which is dense with colorful fish. Go on a speed boat ride with a tour operator to find the best snorkeling spots.

Visit the Pirangi Cashew Tree next to the Pirangi do Norte part of the beach. It is the largest of its kind in the world and entered the Guinness Book of Records in 1994. Capture photos of twirling branches that stretch over an area of about 2 acres (0.8 hectares). Find it a block behind the beach just north of the river.

Ride a buggy up and down dunes and around sandy trails near the beach. Head into the countryside to see majestic ranches and lagoons. Dine on shrimp at one of the nearby restaurants specializing in seafood.

Stroll along the banks of the river that divides the two sections of the beach. Swim at the point where freshwater meets the salty ocean.

Pirangi Beach is about 15 miles (25 kilometers) south along the coast from the central part of Natal. Drive here from the city in about 35 minutes or ride a bicycle to enjoy the scenery along the way. The beach lies just south of the area of Cotovelo. Get around the area by taxi or bus.
