Converted from a disused pier, this wonderful park is perfect for picnics or a leisurely stroll with uninterrupted views of the skyline of Manhattan skyscrapers.

Pier A Park is one of Hoboken’s most popular parks, attracting picnickers, joggers, strollers and bikers. Join other park visitors in admiring the fantastic panoramic views out to Manhattan and take selfies against the iconic New York City skyline.

Plans were in place to use this formerly abandoned pier site for a high-rise development before they were scrapped in favor of a more community-friendly park, which was opened in 1999. Come to the park today and you won’t find a single office building, condo or store but rather green spaces, trees and benches.

Wander along this riverfront park and gaze out over the Hudson River. On a clear day, the views extend all the way from the Verrazano Bridge to the south to the George Washington Bridge to the north. Spot lots of ferries and sailboats traveling between New Jersey and Manhattan.

Look for a bench to sit on or lie on a towel on the park’s pleasant grassy expanse. From here, the views extend across to Midtown Manhattan and its tightly packed skyscrapers. Despite its popularity, Pier A Park is rarely crowded and can seem quite peaceful when compared to the busy streets of Manhattan.

Time your visit to coincide with one of the events held in Pier A Park. During summer, the park regularly hosts outdoor cinema screenings under the stars as well as live music from the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra and other performers.

Bring along fishing gear and cast out from the pier. Species including stripers, weakfish, catfish and snapper bluefish have all been caught here. If you are lucky enough to haul in a catch, use the fish-cleaning station on the north end of the pier.

Find Pier A Park on Sinatra Drive on the Jersey Bank of the Hudson River in Hoboken. To get here, ride the PATH train and disembark at Hoboken. The park is about a 5-minute walk away. It is free to visit and is open 24/7.
