"The staff speak English or Mandarin hence communication was a breeze for me. They were very friendly, helpful and polite. The location of the ryokan is within walking distance to the town and close to the train station. Hotel provides a bus shuttle to the train station. From the train station to the hotel, there is also a complimentary ride. I had a very pleasant stay at the ryokan and highly recommend it. "

"I came to Gero on a recommendation from a close friend. I somehow missed it when I had done a previous Takayama trip and I am glad I came back. The town is very small and the hotel is easily walkable from the station, some people say 15 mins but it was more like 8-10 mins and that was while stopping to take pictures of the Hida river. "Superb hospitality from the owner and his team. Breakfast on both days were delicious. If you arrive by train, private transport to the property may be arranged. "The walls are paper-thin, you can hear neighbor's TV. There is a smell of mold in the room. The shared bath was not clean. The futons are very thin as well. The communal toilet slippers were disgustingly dirty, and no other slippers inside the hotel were provided (you walk on very old carpets and floors in the hotel hallways barefooted).
