5/5 Excellent
Pleasantly surprised
"We weren't expecting much from this hotel but were pleasantly surprised. The room was excellent value for money and was nicer than anticipated. Yes, this is an older hotel and it shows in places, but everything was clean and tidy.
We booked a twin Premium room which had nice extras such as robes & slippers provided. The twin beds were almost touching which was fine for us as we're good friends but perhaps would be a bit weird if you were sharing with a colleague, for example.
We had problems with the aircon not staying on for more than a couple of minutes. Not a big problem in December - we just opened a window - but I imagine would be very uncomfortable in the summer months.
There were a few other niggles - there was a coffee machine in the room but no coffee pods supplied and we only received one pack of complimentary biscuits (so 3 custard creams to share between the two of us).
The bathroom is quite small but fine for a single person at a time. The shower is a walk-in style enclosure with pleasant complimentary toiletries (shower gel, shampoo and conditioner). I found the shower pressure a little weak.
The pool and gym are both quite small but adequate for a short stay. The pool was clean and warm - unfortunately the hot tub was out of order.
All of the staff were very welcoming and we genuinely felt welcome here. I will look forward to staying again."
