Get information from knowledgeable rangers about hiking before setting out in one of the most popular sections of Grand Teton National Park.

Stop at the Jenny Lake Visitor Center to talk with rangers who can advise you on matters related to your visit to Moose, Wyoming, and the majestic mountains of Grand Teton National Park. Plan short hikes or treks lasting several days.

Choose from a number of guided walks such as the Inspiration Point Hike with breathtaking views and Jenny Lake as the centerpiece. Pay a fee to take a boat across the lake to begin the 1-mile (1.6-kilometer) guided hike ending at a viewpoint 400 feet (120 meters) above the lake. Join a guide on the flatter wheelchair-accessible walk to the shores of Jenny Lake with a round-trip distance of 400 yards (360 meters). Hear presentations given regularly in the center on topics such as bear safety and the natural wonders of the Teton Range.

The park has three visitor centers and a preserve center. Each offers something unique. Drop in at the Craig Thomas Discovery and Visitor Center in Moose to join a ranger on the 2-hour hike to Taggart Lake or visit a homestead along the Menors Ferry Historic District walking tour. Gather around a campfire to hear a ranger give accounts of local wildlife and tell park stories.

Settle back on the porch with a morning coffee at the Colter Bay Visitor Center and listen to a ranger talk about the importance of the wetlands in the park. See the wetlands and forest on the 3-mile (5-kilometer) Swan Lake hike or sit in on a presentation about Indian arts and culture.

Discover the preserve portion of the park with a 2.5-hour hike on the Lake Creek Trail that travels along Phelps Lake beneath the towering Tetons. All activities are for families, ranging in length from 20 minutes to 3 hours and many are wheelchair accessible. Let your children attend events that are organized just for them.

Whether you visit just the Jenny Lake Visitor Center or all of them, you’ll discover different aspects of the amazing Grand Teton National Park. Bring your camera and some comfortable walking shoes.
