Awful! Paid for Superior room with two queen beds.. hotel did not have the room available, put me in a smaller room WITH 2 double beds that looked more like twin beds (did not notify me at check in). A/C did not go above 74 degrees. Service personnel went twice and we not able to fix it and the hotel did not offer a room with working A/C. At that point I was too tired to argue. Lamp in the nightstand would blink constantly and room phone did not work so communication with front desk had to be via mu cell phone. ONLY GOOD THING: location. Stop counting. would NOT recommend this hotel.

The Empire has a great location! We were going to Lincoln Center and it is just across the street. The staff was helpful, checkin/checkout went smoothly. I'm not a fan of them putting a $150 charge on my credit card, but they did eventually remove it. The room was decent size and the bathroom fine, but there were rips in the carpet and some wallpaper that was peeling off. The a/c had trouble keeping the room cool and it wasn't very hot outside. Due to location, we'd stay there again.

The location was perfect for our needs. The doormen and reception desk personnel were excellent. Niya was great! However, the service was not. We asked for ice several times; in fact, had to go down to the desk to ask for it. Our phone did not work. Also, on a brutally hot day, the AC was less than adequate. Also, the safe was broken. I was told someone would come up to fix or replace it. It never happened. Our experience was okay given that we only spent one night there. If we had booked more nights, I am sure I would have been very angry!

Book a superior king bed room with a view that was pricey but worth it for a night celebrating my fiancée birthday. Got to the hotel checked in. When I went to the room which wasn’t superior room or a view that I paid for,unless the view was another person room across or the ac units on the roof below. The toilet has scratches with poo inside the scratches and to top it off there was no AC on a 90 degree day with 70plus humidity. After calling the desk and getting transferred 3 times I went down and was told that was the only room available when I checked in even though I booked it weeks prior apparently what I paid for wasn’t a priority to them. Then they sent up a person from facility’s who tried to tell me some made up stuff about the ac until I told him I’m on construction and then he told me the truth that this room was tripping at the board. After 4 hours of trying to get a knew room they finally gave me one which was a queen bed and the ac barley working. Just good enough to sleep. Worse hotel experience ever and apparently Im only entitled to half a refund.

Staff was not always pleasant or helpful - particularly doormen. Rooms were not always cleaned thoroughly during extended stay. For the amount spent for the stay, we would have liked to have staff show a more welcoming and pleasant attitude. However, the location was perfect and the neighborhood was amazing.

Very disappointed in size of roof top pool. I chose the Empire Hotel, because of the pool availability and yes weather was in the 90's but pool was so small & crowded we never actually used it. While room seemed clean the bathroom vanity so small made it difficult to place accessories while using the sink. The shower was difficult to adjust.

While the owners of this property have clearly made an effort to maintain the lobby in tip-top condition, the same cannot be said of the rooms. My room was dark, with inadequate lighting, by my standards. The room was also small. The air conditioning unit, while functional, was antiquated. The window shades were broken. There was dust on the nightstands, indicating insufficient attention to deatsils of cleanliness. While the bathroom had clearly received upgrades to it's fixtures, the paint on the bathroom door was in poor condition. Providing free bottled water and a small refrigerator are nice touches, but providing coffee and tea in the room would have been a nice touch. The one thing that this hotel has going for it is location. It is raight across Columbus Avenue from Lincoln Center, is convenient to public transportation, and close to Central Park. I also want to give a shout-out to the friendly and helpful staff. But given the above, unless the owners of this property make an investment in improving the guestrooms and train the housekeeping staff to do a better job, this hotel is overpriced and is only desirable based on its location.
