"Great location. Older style hotel and our initial room was very poor and we were moved to an excellent room because the air conditioning didn’t work in the first one. The second room had excellent beds, aircon and space. The staff service was impeccable, particularly Miss Watanabe as she helped us with many things like booking restaurants and finding a good Onsen. "The breakfast spread was by far the best I’ve had, it was not only very affordable (¥2400 if you make a reservation one day prior) and the food spread was also very varied. There were 3 types of Niigata rice to choose from, and also some of the best bread I’ve ever had. The ensuite bathroom was spacious, and the showerhead had good water pressure. The room was also big enough to open 2 medium sized luggages without having to navigate too precariously around. The traditional Shoji in the room...

"Very very dated hotel. Hotel was a distance away from the train station so it was inconvenient to get to the hotel with luggage and then head back to the train station for meals and head back again. There was a musky smell in the room and the countertops were dusty. We borrowed a fan from the laundry room to use in the room just to circulate the air as the aircon is not working well (in addition to the smell). Washing machine was dirty and didn’t look like it has been maintained. It was raining...
