"Our hostess Edith is a TREASURE! We chose Hotel Tauraa for the photos of the beautifully landscaped grounds, with many sculptures and tropical plants. We never imagined how welcome and cared-for we would feel during our 3-night stay. First, we didn’t expect to be greeted at the airport with leis made by Edith from materials in her own garden. We missed out on that by hurrying out to begin the 15-minute walk to the hotel, but we still got the leis. ;) At the hotel, she immediately offered fresh juice and wanted to be sure that we had pre-booked tours of the island and artifacts, which we hadn’t. She immediately got on the phone to a couple of her best tour contacts and managed to book 2 days with Claudio who miraculously had a cancellation and was able to give us a private tour on both days (we could a whole review on how great HE was). We recommend contacting Edith after booking the hotel to ask her to arrange tours for you. The made-to-order breakfasts were artistically arranged, extravagant and delicious, including fresh-fruit smoothies. When we had a problem with our room’s refrigerator, Edith came right over and swapped it out. Her husband Bill is friendly, charming and helpful. We hope you have the opportunity to enjoy a unique island experience on Rapa Nui, which staying at Hotel Tauraa."

"The greeting at the airport with a lei by Odette was a wonderful touch. she is like the mother hen at the hotel and was constantly making sure that all was well with my visit. The view of the ocean was great. "

"Amazing stay in a lovely, quiet property. Incredible and personalised service from day one from all the staff. Rooms very specious in a house set up, nice and cosy pool. We booked a half board package and dinner at restaurant excellent and big portions, friendly service. The package included private tour per day (with snacks and drinks) which was a great plus considering tour prices on island. Also pick up and drop off at airport. Definitely a great property to enjoy the island and totally recommended"

"The place is very up-scale but casual just like the whole island. It would not hurt having it closer to "downtown" as the 15-min walk to another restaurant down a narrow road with no sidewalk gets tiring after a while. The pool is excellent and so is the service. "

"Had a wonderful stay at Taha Tai. Truly enjoyed the dining experience, the amenities, and a clean and comfortable room with an in-room safe that fits a laptop. The location was perfect for exploring. It had a very warm feel. I stayed in the hotel (not the cabanas) and I really enjoyed it. The front desk staff were also very helpful in arranging tours and assisting with any questions I had during my stay. The environment was charming overall with a very Polynesian feel. I also appreciated the thoughtful attention to detail in the decor and landscaping. It was a great spot to enjoy a relaxing Easter Island getaway. The restaurant and breakfast were also very lovely. I look forward to returning again soon. "
