Terrible. Orbitz did not forward the money we paid to them. When called they provided an invalid credit card number. We had to pay again. This happened over 2 hours at 1-3 AM in the morning. Horrible.

Poor =2
Did not achieve my objective of a breakaway. The neighbourhood is very noisy until into the late hours of the night due to religious formations closeby. I could not sleep at that place due to the noise and the house keeper asked me out before my checkout time and had to wait with my baggage at reception for checkout and transport which l had already arranged for 11h00 based on my checkout time confirmed with reception beforehand. The breakfast was unattended I my first experience was not great hence I never went back for the remainder of my stay. My rating = 2/5

Acceptable when on a budget
Poor internet service and Service support and the Hot water from the shower comes with an intolerable smell. I had to use cold. Not the cleanest hotel and room but completely livable. The reception staff is quite good but that is the only staff that is good. Multiple technical failures on a daily basis (Ex: Elevator, Internet...etc.)

Very convenient if you have business in the area
The hotel is located outside the city in a complex with different offices. It is the most convenient if you have business in that complex, or surrounding area, and want to avoid the city's horrible traffic. That was the case for me. I stayed there several times because of the convenience. Otherwise the hotel is just average. The rooms are big(it is a hotel apartment)and clean enough. No good restaurants in the area. The hotel's restaurant is good. The hotel has gym and a very small swimming pool at the top(13th floor). I always choose the top floors for nice view.

Its main appeal is that it's near UDSM.
Everything about it is a bit shabby looking; the dining room is slow with not very interesting menu; the decor is, well, not really decor. Not terrible, fine in a pinch.

Conference hotel
I stayed overnight, in transit through Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. The Blue Pearl was the only hotel where I could (easily) find a room, perhaps due to the Obama visit in Dar. The hotel is big and set up for large meetings/conferences. On this occasion it felt deserted; I saw maybe a dozen other guests. The room was large and comfortable and clean, but nothing special. Food was African standard. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is a bit out of the way -- several kms from downtown Dar, and not near the coast (at least not that I could tell). A utilitarian place to spend a night, but nothing to get excited about. Megachurch under construction right next door starts blaring Swahili sermons over very good loudspeakers at 6am, and hotel walls are too thin to permit any sort of sleep after that.

Out of the way, overpriced
I stayed at this hotel several times over the course of a month. The first thing to mention is location. It is in Ubungo, near the bus terminal and not far from the University of Dar es Salaam. If you have business in this area, the hotel is a good option. However, if you plan to spend time in the city center, Msasani, or elsewhere, the hotel is well out of the way, especially considering the horrible traffic problems facing the city. There is also very little within walking distance, and the Plaza adjacent to the hotel offers very little as well. In terms of the hotel itself, the rooms are apartment-style and very spacious. The hot water and a/c work very well. But the hotel is certainly not four-star quality. It is overpriced compared to options that offer a better quality of stay. Services such as laundry are nothing short of highway robbery. There is also a tremendous amount of noise from the outside, in particular a nearby church that produces loud singing at around 5 in the morning. All in all, there are much better options in Dar es Salaam.

TERRIBLE
TERRIBLE! awful food in the restaurant. Internet cost 10 usd per 24 hrs but I can hardly use it, and the hotel refuse to refund (because it is actually connected with 10 kb/ s download rate......)

Nice hotel comfortable rooms
The rooms are spacious and clean, breakfast was good. There are a few stores in the plaza where the hotel is located. The hotel was about 500m to the bus station so it is convenient if you plan a trip by bus. It is a bit far from the center and you need a cab to go to the ferry terminal. It is not a cheap hotel but the proximity to the bus terminal was why I chose to stay there for one night.

I am still in the Blue Pearl hotel. Wanted to extend my stay via your site but it says no rooms. There are plenty of empty rooms at this particular moment.

Blue Pearl Hotel, Dar Es Salaam
I would readily recommend this hotel in the outskirts of Dar Es Salaam in a quiet area of town. The complex is large, the infinity pool on the roof top wonderful, the staff courteous. Two draw backs: 1) the restaurant really battled flies, especially with the morning buffet; though the staff were trying hard to keep things under control; 2) a great facility like this should not nickel and dime you with internet! Not only was it not included, the connection was minimal. I spent much time in the large lobby connecting through Skype because I was unable to do so from the 11th floor. Fix these two problem areas and the place would be great.

Safe spot on the way to the airport
We were flying back to Europe after a 20-day visit in Tanzania. Wanted to spend the last hours sunbathing, swimming in the pool, working out at the gym. The not so clear water in the pool did not invite to take a dip. We seemed to be the only guests in this huge hotel. The bar looked like a porn club and smelled like a damp cellar, the restaurant had the atmosphere of a school food canteen. Room service brought us a salad we hadn't ordered but no utensils. Sorry, cannot recommend.

The internet didn't work, the manager was unfriendly and not service minded, looking at the customer as a problem
