Come and revel in the wonder and fascination of space and science at Clark Planetarium. All the family will enjoy the cutting-edge imagery spread across 930 square metres of exhibits, along with an enormous IMAX theatre.
Start at the awe-inspiring Newton's Daydream, a two-storey, audio-kinetic rolling ball sculpture. Marvel at Science on a Sphere, which shows the incredible complexity of meteorological systems and the movement of the earth's plates through the projection of a series of images onto a 1.8-metre sphere representing the world.
The top-quality imagery and sound of the Cosmic Light Show is not to be missed. These 45-minute shows are created here in Clark Planetarium and sold to other institutions all over the world. Choose from a range of options: from shows about the best rock n' roll musicians to documentaries about the universe, all projected onto a 16.8-metre dome.
Enjoy photographs from the Hubble Space Telescope in the Earth Globe exhibit, and examine a piece of material from space – the planetarium is one of the only pieces of moon rock on regular public display. This moon rock is a sample from the Apollo 15 mission and is on permanent loan from NASA. There is also a whole range of videos and stories from the series of Apollo moon landings on display.
Enjoy an informative film about the wonder of space, take in a classic or let the children choose one of their favourites at the five-storey, 3D IMAX cinema on site.
Clark Planetarium is open 365 days of the year – its opening hours can vary, and are available on the website. There is a separate entrance to the IMAX theatre, which is also open daily. Entry to the majority of the exhibits is free of charge, but there is a charge for the Cosmic Light Show and for the IMAX theatre.
There is plenty of parking available in the underground car park of the adjoining shopping centre, The Gateway, which offers discounts to visitors of the planetarium. The local TRAX transport system also stops just outside.
