Spend a relaxing day on Choc Beach. Renowned for its calm, clear waters and expanse of sand, this beach is a firm family favorite and perfect for children. Enjoy splashing in the gently lapping waves, soaking up the hot St. Lucian sun, trying some watersports and cooling off with a drink from the beach bar.
Choc Beach is the quintessential Caribbean beach. The beautiful stretch of sand is lined by swaying coconut palms, which provide much-needed shade in the heat of the day. The water is warm and there are some excellent snorkeling opportunities. Rent equipment from watersports centers located just off the beach.
While closed to the public, Rat Island located just off-shore makes for some impressive photo opportunities and has a fascinating history which watersports centers will gladly regale. It was once used as a quarantine station and was also overcome by rats, hence its name.
Sample some St. Lucian foods from the mobile vendors who stop along the beach or enjoy a bite to eat or a refreshing drink at the on-site snack bar. Discover nearby restaurants for a more hearty meal, where fresh fish and meats are served. Try local cuisines or indulge in some familiar North American comfort foods. While not located on the beach itself, restaurants can be found just an easy walk or short taxi ride away.
Sitting just outside of the capital city of Castries on the island’s north shore, Choc Beach is ideally located. Enjoy a few hours at the beach before heading into the city to take advantage of the shopping centers, entertainment venues and cultural attractions.
Choc Beach is easily accessible by car from the Gros Islet Highway. A designated car park at the beach offers easy access to the sands. It should be noted that there are no restroom facilities at this beach. Visit nearby attractions such as the St. Lucia Folk Research Centre.
