The property is being renovated and my room was fine but not updated. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was nice, typical fare. They should post signs in hallways to remind guests that the noise travels to rooms do please be courteous of other guests.

Expedia did not share that there was going to be construction during my stay. The hotel itself was fine, although outdated, had room for improvement as far as cleanliness, and the breakfast was only open until 9:00am. That’s way too early to end breakfast. Property in midst of renovations, but in last 6 months bad room rate has gone up, they're charging a $16 "resort fee", and the only real extra seems to be the 3 hours of breakfast included each morning. If that's worth 16 on top of the raise in base room rate then ok, but they were a great choice for the traveler just looking for a clean solid room and are now seemingly trying to compete with the more upscale brands around them, IMHO missing what made this property a hidden gem for no nonsense travelers.

If you are doing construction in the hotel don’t put customers in the rooms directly below the rooms getting work done. I was woken up at 8am by constant hammering. Then not only was a room with construction above but a double twin instead of a king. I specifically booked a king. For over the high price we paid for one night, I’m beyond disappointed.

The lobby smelled bad, musty, dirty and cigarette smoke. There was a used bath towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door when we checked in. The room smelled bad. The carpet felt damp. The air conditioner never cooled the room so we did not sleep well.

We had our stay during construction (which we had not been informed of prior) and it was a bad experience. Very loud, which comes with construction. I spoke with the front desk about moving and we were fully accommodated! We moved 2 floors down and it was a wonderful stay. We have stayed here several times over the past year due to the proximity of the VA Hospital, and each time we had a wonderful stay. The staff were great, friendly and very accommodating. This just happened to be “one of those times “. We will continue to stay in the future as our needs require. Kudos for the entire staff.
