DO NOT BOOK THIS PLACE. iT IS A RIP-OFF. I GOT THErE EARLY AND HAD THE MISFORTUNE TO GET INSIDE THE PROPeRTY EARLY. THIS IS A HOARDER HOME THAT SMELLS LIKE CAT PEE. BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I WERE SCARED TO STAY ThERE. Also they suggest you have dinner there and the place is overgrown with plants. Truly in 44 years of traveling in the US and around the world this is the worst place to stay that I have ever been. We left and called Expedia to cancel even before the check in time and the owner conveniently didn’t answer their call for a week. I have told Expedia this place is not up to their standards. The owners, of course, refuses to return our 300+ dollars we had paid for the room. I’m sum, stay away. Far away.

Quarkie hotel in the country
Was a great B and B. Not too hard to find. We found it without a working GPS. Such a beautiful old farm house with artwork all over the walls. Breakfast is too die for lol. Dominika makes a great buckwheat blueberry pancakes and eggs and shrimp. The rooms are nicely furnished in a farm country style. The gardens out back are a must to explore. We were amazed by how much flowers one can fit into a small plot. Wish we had explored it sooner then right before we left.

Cozy little place off the beaten path and convenient to the tourist destinations if you don't mind a bit of a drive. Would definitely return. Wonderful people running the place as well.

Beautiful B&B with fun and interesting owners!
Upon arrival, we immediately felt at ease. The owner's are delightfully unique and personable! The room was comfortable and well provisioned. The breakfasts were high end resturant quality, with fresh ingredients right from their garden! The location is a perfect home base to explore from, plenty to see close by. But, the true treasure of this place is the owners themselves. Make sure to leave time in your schedule to engage with them!

The place to stay in Waldoboro - Friendly, cozy, authentic and relaxing
At the end of June/2013 I went to Waldoboro for my 30th high school reunion. I went to school there as an exchange student and I hadnt been in Waldoboro since then. Reading several reviews in the web I selected Le Vatout as the place to stay. I made no mistake. The comments about the special care both Dominika and Linda took of their guests were short in their description. They both provided me a wonderful stay and made my 4 days trip as nice and smooth as they could. Delicious and original breakfasts, very nice coffee, delightful conversation, useful tips regarding where to visit, restaurants to go in the region, etc. Le Vatout is located right next to Waldoboro downtown, although it is a very quiet place in a strategic sector. It is located a few blocks from a supermarket and from Debs dinner (nice lobster rolls). The infrastructure is the best you could expect from a B&B. Clean room, nice and comfortable bed, clean and nice bathroom. The rest of the house is as it is shown in the pictures. Nice. Cozy and beautiful kitchen/dinner table. Beautiful gardens. In a sunny day, worth to spend time relaxing and contemplating its landscape. I am already planning another visit to Waldoboro to visit friends and Le Vatout is the place where I will stay. Wonderful, relaxed inn
We had a thoroughly delightful stay at Le Vatout. The inn is charming -- a typical Maine farmhouse from 1830 and totally unspoiled. The rooms are very comfortable and filled with books. The food was superb. Dominika prepared outstanding breakfasts with fresh food from the garden. Breakfast around the farm table in the sun-filled kitchen prompted wonderful discussions, much laughter and warmth. Linda and Dominika were more than accommodating and responsive to our needs. The gardens are gorgeous and the entire experience is the epitome of what country Maine is all about -- simple, relaxed, friendly and unspoiled. We highly recommend it!

Totally enjoyed!
Very centrally located to get to Camden, Rockland, lighthouses and state park. Since I was in Maine to enjoy the lighthouses, Dominika went out of her way to help me find all the ones in the area. She has places for you to dine, suggestions on where to go and what to see and will even help you map your day if you like. The old house is very beautiful and it was very quiet and accommodating.

Very enjoyable stay for 6 nights
We had come to this part of Maine to sample the excellent lobster dishes to be had and were not disappointed in any way. We prefer to stay in B&B's when possible as they are so much more personal than other options. At Le Vatout we were delighted with the rooms, the hosts, the other guests and the exciting breakfasts provided. Dominika provided many options for our explorations and we took advantage of many of them. The garden is fascinating and has new insights with each turn of its labyrinth of paths. We have cooked with herbs for 41 years but at best our fresh herbs come from a grocery store and most come dried in a bottle. Dominika would leave her preparations of breakfast to go to the garden and cut herbs for that meal and she had a friend who brought freshly picked mushrooms to enhance the foods flavors. As foodies we were delighted and cannot wait until they decide to open a Bed&Breakfast&Dinner. Duck eggs are awesome and she has a keen respect for the potatoes she cooks and flavors. Oh yeah and the coffee is fantastic.

Stay somewhere else
Rooms are not clean; the linens had spots on them; the carpets in the room were very dirty and not vacuumed; the matresses of the twin beds were old and very uncomfortable; we did not sleep well at all; spare yourself a sleepless night and go somewhere else.

Waldoboro B & B Maine adventure -
We had a highly memorable lovely visit staying at La Vatout. The house is wonderfully old and very homey. The innkeepers are warm, creative, and interesting enlightened women. We loved our conversations with them. We were given lots of great ideas for outings, restaurants, etc. and assistance with making reservations for them. Breakfast was over the top great. The innkeeper really went out of her way to satisfy our every breakfast need including making special sausage and buckwheat pancakes from scratch to fresh ground coffee both decaf and regular. The setting is casual, earthy, and artistic. Our room was large enough to navigate around in easily with views of beautiful hemlock trees out our windows, lots of books if we wanted to read. It was convenient to connect to route 1 and the many Maine excursions.

Disliked: Room comfort
The innkeepers are very friendly, and we enjoyed talking with them and meeting their pets. However, future guests need to be aware that this place is not at all suitable to guests with any kind of physical disability. We both found it difficult to climb up the extremely steep steps to our bedroom on the second floor. It was also difficult to navigate the steep and uneven concrete steps to the front door, and the handrail was dangerously loose. Our room was very hot, and the furniture was cheap & uncomfortable; only 2 hard chairs. The place has no sitting room & no porch for guests, so if guests want to sit somewhere to read or relax, they must go out to the garden (quite pretty, but not really accessible for elderly or handicapped or less-than agile folks). They could also sit in a rather dirty-looking arm chair in the kitchen, which I did not find to be an appealing option. As a final warning--our room had no key, and the owners don't lock the front door. The owners are very intelligent women with interesting personal histories, but they need to clear out a lot of clutter in and around their place and do some serious maintenance for the comfort and safety of guests!

Great innkeepers, great breakfast
Several local spots were visited because the innkeepers recommended them: The Olson House (Wyeth paintings), Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, German cemetery, Morse Sauerkraut Farm. All worth the visit. A lovely backyard to sit at the of the day with a glass of wine and a book.

Overnighter Traveling Up To Bar Harbor
Le Vatout is conveniently located just off Route 1. The Inn is perfect for a short overnight stay if you are traveling up route one. The bedrooms are small, and do not offer airconditioning. The hostess has a cat, who just might nap with you, and a beautiful friendly dog. The hostess is lovely and welcoming. She will give you a lay of the land and help you make it to the most desirable destination spots in the area. I really enjoyed chit chatting with the other guests at the breakfast table. And, our host makes a mean breakfast! Yum!

Not Your Usual B&B Experience
This review is very difficult for me to write. I wanted so badly to absolutely LOVE this place. The innkeeper Dominika was fantastic helping us to locate local things to do. She printed out maps. This was very much needed as we arrived in the off season when so many things were closed. She's a big personality. Be ready. Her breakfasts were good - filled with a variety of local sausages from Morse's (a must do), fresh from the garden herbs & home canned jams & jellies. Her breakfast schedule was adjustable. While filling and tasty they were far from the gourmet breakfasts we read about in other reviews. Our room - the robin room - was quiet, good sized, very private and had a decent sized private bath. We could adjust the room temp ourselves & the owner's cat Yodi stayed in there with us most of the time. As cat lovers that was a treat. Free, unsecure Wi-fi was available in the room. All the reviews we read told us not to expect anything fancy. The Innkeepers had bought the place and opened it pretty much as is. Part of the charm of the Inn was it's authenticity. I had no problem with this as the guest room was clean and fresh. Both of us had a HUGE problem with being told there were no keys to any of the rooms and they never locked the front door. If vulgar language is something that makes you cringe, this may not be the place for you. We were all for stimulating conversations but highly opinionated, vulgar laced rants at 7am were a bit of a jolt each day. There really was no common area except the kitchen. At times the door to that area was closed while the innkeepers watched TV in their private living room just off the kitchen or cooked meals for themselves and friends. Other reviews told us it was like staying in someone's private home and would be a different B&B experience. They were right. Still we were paying to stay there and expected it to be a bit more professional.

A Unique and Wonderful Find
I discovered Le Vatout on a weekend trip to coastal Maine and was thrilled to find a warm, welcoming yet uniquely sophisticated inn with a mix of authentically down east and European atmosphere. Original museum quality art work adorn the walls of this beautifully restored country home. All the wonders of the coastal villages and natural scenic spots are just outside the door. Dominika's breakfast was truly unforgettable (try her painted eggs and beyond belief rhubarb preserves from their garden). Dominika and Linda are wonderful hosts who made my stay an unforgettable and delightful visit.

Wow!
As a Maine resident, I stayed just one night at Le Vatout in celebration of my winter birthday. I had picked this place over others in the mid-coast Maine region on a hunch that Dominika and Linda would provide an experience that is out of the ordinary. My intuition served me well. My soon-to-be wife and I loved our stay - the Robin room was warm, comfortable, and full of great reading material! It was a pleasure to view Linda's beautiful photography throughout the house, and Dominika's breakfast was a sensual feast to the mouth, nose, and eyes! But most importantly, Dominika and Linda are just great people - interesting, engaging, and fun. I felt like I was visiting with old, dear friends who had welcomed me into their home. I'll surely return!

We were disappointed in that the B & B did not have a parlor or sitting room to enjoy, just our room or the garden area (unfortunately it had been raining so this was not an option for us). There was no t.v. or wifi. Our room did not have a lock, in fact, the door would not stay shut and in the room was a round rock provided to help keep the door closed. This was ineffective in that the door would pop open unexpectedly and the rock would roll away! There was also a dog that greeted us upon our arrival with some serious barking and the dog actually followed us up the steps and into our room. People with allergies should be aware that there is a dog.
