Spend an afternoon admiring a series of themed gardens with resident butterflies, attend horticulture workshops or browse temporary art exhibitions at one of Arkansas’ favorite gardens.

Visit the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks to discover a collection of impeccably kept flower displays, gardens and lawns. The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks covers an area of around 40 acres (16 hectares) in Lake Fayetteville Park. It features 12 themed gardens that present a wide range of plants and flowers. Trails and bridges connect each of the gardens and signposts provide information about what is on display.

Spot plant and tree species that thrive in Arkansas and North America. Get up-close to the elegant and multicolored butterflies in the Butterfly House or enjoy events such as art expositions, live music and gardening workshops for both adults and children.

Explore the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks to discover an ornamental Japanese garden, herbaceous borders, a rose garden and many perennial plants. There’s also an area for exotic plants and a rockery, complete with numerous aquatic flowers. Spot artistic features, such as sculptures, hidden among the flowerbeds. Find a bench beneath a low-hanging tree to appreciate the vivid colors and breathe in the sweet scents of the gardens.

Take a stroll through the garden’s arboretum to find conifer, maple and oak trees alongside azaleas and rhododendrons. Try to count the many species of butterflies that flutter around the Butterfly House.

The garden has a busy schedule of events that can be enjoyed by visitors of all ages. Sign up for lectures and workshops outlining the science of gardening or join in outdoor activities that aim to educate children on sustainability. Visit after dark for cocktail and dinner evenings accompanied by live music performances and original work by local artists.

Find the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks located in the northern corner of Fayetteville, just a 15-minute drive from the city’s downtown district. With free on-site parking available, the most convenient way to reach the gardens is by car. Combine your visit with a walk around the adjoining Lake Fayetteville Park to explore its boating lake, natural trails, picnic sites and playgrounds.

The Botanical Garden of the Ozarks is open daily and an admission fee applies. Spring and summer are the busiest seasons, when many of the flowers are in bloom. Guided tours of the garden are available for a fee upon prior request. Information about tours and events is listed on the garden’s official website.
