Great Location, Great service and Breakfast. Hotel is old but very clean. It was comfortable but was a bit noisy due to all the trams running by. We did sleep pretty well anyway :-) Very walkable to old town :-)

When we checked in to our rooms, we were not happy that we were put in an inside room with a view of the elevator, we had booked canal view. We were immediately moved to the rooms we booked and had a wonderful stay!

Great central location. Clean and well kept. Old building is well maintained and has a nice rustic vibe. River view makes for a great atmosphere, but adds a bit of noise, which we enjoyed, but some may not.

East West stay
East West was a super location with a lovely room overlooking the river by the main bridge. Room was a good size and well equpped. Sadly no A/C and it was a very hot weekend, so just the fan was not enough! Also, forgot but swiss hotels dont hsve tea/coffee making facilities which is a shame as well

It is a 5 stars -3 stars hotel. Nice staff. Continental breakfast- very well located in the center and nearby public transportation ( transport is free ). It is clean and very good for a three stars. A bit thin pillows, but overall very good!

This is a very hard review to write because the hotel was lovely. This is a great place for someone that wants to party into the night and then crash in their comfy bed. We were very happy with our peaceful room overlooking the Rhine River. Located right along the river walk for a lovely stroll, close to old town and shopping. We were there for the Christmas Markets and reserved a couple of extra days to explore Basel at the end of our River Cruise. Everything was perfect until 9pm rolled around and the club below the hotel started pounding music that was near impossible to get to sleep to. Even noise cancelling headsets didn't work as the walls were vibrating with dance tunes. We got very little rest especially on our last night then heading out to an overseas 14 hour journey. Not ideal. Breakfast was excellent, the staff were excellent. The place is also located along the Christmas Market party block - lots of folks enjoying a good night out. The club below with booming music was the problem.

Minimalist hotel
This hotel is VERY minimalist. No air conditioning. No comfortable place to sit. No coffee in the room. No help at the front desk after 3:00 pm. The restaurant and bar closed at 7:00 pm. The front door is locked at 8:00 pm so you must walk around back and use your room key to get in. The location is good and right on the river, very walkable to everything. Employees were nice.

Quiet room
I got a room with windows inwards to the elevator and it felt a bit claustrophobic not to be able to see out and open the window- But, it was so so quiet and relaxing without any noice from the outside world. So I was happy ! (I was offered to change if I wanted)

Zu wenig einladend, um hier Ferien zu machen
Die beiden Einzelzimmer, welche ich für jeweils eine Nacht gebucht hatte, sind sehr einfach ausgestattet. Das Mobiliar beschränkt sich im wesentlichen auf das Bett, einen fahrbaren Trolley und einen textilen Hängeschrank; beides aus dem skandinavischen Möbelhaus. Keine Einrichtung, um hier gemütlich Ferien verbringen zu wollen. Für einen Business-Trip mit einer Übernachtung noch ok. Die Öffnungszeiten der Reception sind unklar; Hotel-WebSite und hotels.com machen unterschiedliche Angaben. Das Hotel war telefonisch für Rückfragen nicht erreichbar. Bei Bedarf muss eine E-Mail gesendet werden; eine brauchbare Antwort blieb leider aus. Das Frühstück am Abreisetag war ok; zum ersten Mal traf ich dabei auch auf eine freundliche Mitarbeiterin. Insgesamt stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis für mich nicht.
