"This really is a 'leading hotel of the world'. I've been privileged enough to stay in some top hotels around the world and this was one of my favourites. Pristine inside and out. The pool area is stunning. Great bars and dining options. I liked the Galaxia Sky Bar which has fantastic views. Within a very short walk there are some nice restaurants and bars around the hotel. "Great central property, within easy walking distance to restaurants, parks and shopping areas. They offered one of the best breakfast buffets I have had in a hotel, lovely touches in room over the Christmas period. Room was well appointed, but bathroom showing a bit of wear and tear. The shower pressure was great though. Most of the reception staff were friendly. The restaurant attached to the hotel was really nice. Overall, a great stay and would come back again."

"Beautiful grounds and buildings. Good restaurants/bars internally and others walkable distance downhill (taxi back for the less fit). The main asset of the hotel are the brilliant staff who treated my wife and I wonderfully. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Great week there. And Madeira is beautiful - did a tour of the western and northern sides - fantastic."

"We enjoyed the stay hotel was located in the town centre with plenty space, and conveniently located close to everything. Lovely staff special shout out to Sid, being so helpful. However, our room was facing street often get woke up by the traffic. They had Christmas party at roof top was sooo loud with none stop music at 3am. Dogs were allowed in the room and was barking at 1am. And some guest triggered fire alarm at mid night. I prob won’t come back to the same hotel again, we had no good...

"The food at the buffet was excellent. Lots of choices. Fresh fruit and salads and a great selection of fish and meats and vegetarian options. Staff are very friendly. It is just west of Funchal so a little quieter but walked into Old Town and had a rental car to explore the island. Lots of great hiking in Madeira. I will come back!!!!"

"Beautiful propert and grounds/gardens in particular. True 5 star, staff and service lovely - organised several trips for us. Only thing - and it’s personal opinion - was that the menus for breakfast, lunch, dinner were not always to our taste and there were often better and cheaper options in Funchal. We tended to eat from the breakfast buffet rather than table menu which we enjoyed b much. None of the above should dissuade you from staying there. I would say it’s one of the best hotels...
